Diablo Immortal 4.0 Guide: New Set Items, Open‑World Duels & Phantom Market

A Massive Update Is Coming to Diablo Immortal

Diablo Immortal’s 4.0 update is officially launching on June 19, and it’s packed with fresh content for every type of player. From high-stakes PvP battles to powerful new gear systems, this patch is one of the biggest the game has seen. I recently got hands-on time with the update at Blizzard HQ and had the chance to test everything myself.

Expanded Patch Details & New Class Essences

Although some info was teased in earlier patch notes, this full update brings much more than we initially expected. Each class will now receive new essence options, giving more flexibility in build customization. Whether you play a Monk, Crusader, or Wizard, you’ll notice fresh ways to upgrade your combat style.

The patch also deepens gameplay by refining existing systems and expanding on what was teased previously. This is not just a content drop—it’s a full systems upgrade.

New Helquary Bosses & Inferno Difficulty Unlocks

Three new Helquary bosses have arrived. Players must take them down to access Inferno difficulties 5 through 9:

  • Desbre, Sovereign Shade unlocks Inferno 5, 6, and 7.

  • Thorn Crown is required to unlock Inferno 8.

  • The Crooked Bow must be defeated to gain access to Inferno 9.

These fights are intended for well-prepared players or coordinated groups, so make sure your clan or Warband is ready.

The Charville Wilds & Ablucker Encounter

Explore the northern mountain regions and investigate the Charville Wilds, where a powerful creature named Ablucker roams beneath a ruined stone bridge. Only a few players have dared to venture across—and even fewer have returned.

This area brings environmental storytelling and a powerful enemy encounter worth checking out.

Ancient Legendary Gear: Crafting Helmets

Version 4.0 introduces Ancient Legendary Helmets, designed to push your build potential even further. These helmets come with boosted combat rating and new affixes, offering deeper stat synergy for players in high-end content.

You’ll need to gather 150 Ancient Artifacts—available via Helquary dungeons, battle pass, and daily chests—and then craft them at the blacksmith.

One Gear Slot Today, More in the Future

For now, only the helmet slot is included in the ancient gear system. But the team is planning future updates that could bring the same treatment to weapons, shoulders, chestplates, and more.

It’s a modular system designed to scale alongside new Inferno difficulty levels.

Set Hunter Event with Boosted Green Drops

A new Set Hunter Event is live from June 19 through August 25, offering up to 100% increased drop rate on green set items during your fourth dungeon run. This is perfect for players hunting missing set pieces or building out alt specs.

Just remember—it’s limited-time, so take advantage of the bonus while it lasts.

Freedom of the Wilds Limited-Time Event

Running from June 2 to June 30, this event rewards players for completing objectives across different game modes. Points earned can be exchanged for cosmetic or upgrade items.

Each week focuses on a different challenge:

  • Survivors’ Bane (July 2–9)

  • Trial of the Hordes (July 9–16)

  • Conqueror (July 16–23)

  • Wild Brawl (July 23–30)

Darkened Liberation Reward Event

From June 19 through July 3, complete tasks to earn Champion Commendations. These can be traded in for Legendary Crests, Pearls, and other valuable loot.

If you’re grinding progression, this is a simple way to boost your account quickly.

New Legendary Gems: Blood-Flow, Stubborn Oracle & Surging Sea

Three new Legendary Gems have been introduced:

  • Blood-Flow (5★): Boosts crit and skill damage

  • Stubborn Oracle (2★): Defensive enhancements

  • Surging Sea (1★): Increases skill-based damage output

Each gem scales nicely with resonance and is great for PvP or PvE depending on your build.

Gem Testing & Modified Drop Tables

From June 19 to July 30, you can test the new Blood-Flow gem for free via the in-game market. There’s also a modified drop table available—activate it while running Elder Rifts, and there’s a 50% chance your 5★ gem drop will be Blood-Flow.

If you’re planning to use your Legendary Crests, now’s a good time to go for it.

Free Blood-Flow Gem Giveaway

From June 19 through July 2, players can claim a free two-out-of-five Blood-Flow gem on Battle.net. Even if you don’t want to use it long-term, grab it for Gem Power or future upgrades.

Don’t miss the short redemption window.

Phantom Market Cosmetic: High-Value Looks

A new Phantom Market Cosmetic Set launches from June 26 through July 22. While the expected cost is around $170, the visuals are high quality and were previewed by creators during the Blizzard HQ event.

If cosmetics matter to you, this one’s a top-tier addition.

Returning Events: Alley of Blood, Rising Damnation & More

Several popular events are coming back for short durations:

  • Alley of Blood: June 20–23

  • Rising Damnation: June 21–28

  • Hungering Moon: June 28–July 5

These are limited runs, so participate if you’re farming materials or cosmetics.

New Legendary Items by Class

Every class gets new Legendary Items in this update. These offer new passive effects and can help refine your playstyle.

The update also brings new class-specific essences, offering even more options when optimizing your loadout.

Legendary Paragon Skills at Level 900+

Four new Legendary Paragon Skills have been added. Each can be leveled up using 4 points per rank, with a maximum of 20 ranks. These are unlocked at Paragon level 900, making them true endgame content.

  • Shepherd and Protector: Shields for summons

  • Curse of Weakness: Damage reduction on CC effects

  • Soul Harvester: Shield after kills

  • Frigid Blast: Area slow effects on dash skills

New Shock-Based Set: Sky Breaker’s Bolt

A fresh green item set—Sky Breaker’s Bolt—is now available in Inferno Difficulty 7+ dungeons. Bonuses include:

  • 2-piece: Lightning blast on damage

  • 4-piece: Chain lightning on shocked enemies

  • 6-piece: Electric field + chain lightning auto-attacks

You’ll need to farm the right dungeons for the specific slots.

Dungeon Locations for Sky Breaker’s Set

Here’s where to get the different set pieces:

  • Gloves: Cavern of Echo

  • Boots: Destruction’s End

  • Belt: Temple of Namari

  • Amulet: Pit of Anguish

  • Rings: Silent Monastery

  • Bracelets: Craft at Blacksmith

PC Gameplay Enhancements

A few quality-of-life improvements were made for PC players:

  • New auto-run key

  • Option to click-to-cast skills

  • Bind actions to side mouse buttons

  • Skip cutscenes with the spacebar

These updates make mouse-and-keyboard play much smoother.

Reduced Portal Interruptions

Summoning a portal in the wilderness is now less likely to be interrupted by enemies. This has been a frequent complaint among players, and it’s great to see the devs listening.

You’ll still experience interruptions in PvP zones or events, but overall, it’s much more forgiving now.

New Waypoint at Storm Point Keep

An extra waypoint was added near the southern ramparts between Storm Point Battlements and the Traverse Waypoint. This should make travel in the region more convenient.

Hero’s Journey Reset & Rewards

The Hero’s Journey resets on June 19, and the first four chapters will be available immediately. Completing these earns you the Quill and Parchment Frame, a new profile reward.

Challenge Rifts Season 13 Details

Challenge Rift Season 13 runs from June 19 through August 25. The maximum floor has increased to 550, while the difficulty requirements for floors 481 to 500 have been lowered.

This makes mid-to-late game progression more manageable.

New Adventure Chronicle Tales

There are 10 new tales scattered throughout Sanctuary for the Adventure Chronicle system. Most can be discovered by exploring the world, though one requires an “unconventional method.”

That might involve solving a mystery or finding a hidden NPC.

Cycle of Strife: New Burning Cloaks

Two new Burning Cloaks have been added for Immortals:

  • Boundless: Requires 63 weeks as an Immortal with 8 blessed reigns.

  • Immortal: Requires 98 weeks and 11 blessed reigns.

These are extremely rare cosmetics and will take serious long-term dedication to unlock.

Final Thoughts on Diablo Immortal Update 4.0

Diablo Immortal’s 4.0 update is easily one of the most content-rich patches to date. With open-world PvP, new ancient gear systems, legendary Paragon skills, and limited-time rewards, the update caters to both competitive and casual players.

Whether you're farming Helquary bosses, testing out new legendary gems, or grinding dungeons for Sky Breaker’s Bolt pieces, there’s no shortage of things to do. For those who enjoy story-driven experiences, the Prince of Freedom questline offers new lore to uncover.

Make sure to take advantage of the limited-time drop boosts, events, and free Blood-Flow gem rewards. And if you're into cosmetics, don't sleep on the new Phantom Market set—it's a standout visual piece.
